Mt. Olive Lodge #17 present to Truman Elementary students

Worshipful Master Ramone Hemphill with officers Bradley Dixon and Kenny Reed of Mt. Olive #17 did a presentation on the Most Worshipful Brother Prince Hall, founder of Prince Hall Masonry, The Revolutionary War, Slavery, Abolitionism and Freemasonry to elementary students at Truman Elementary in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Hemphill and brothers also discussed other well-known and notable Freemasons who played pivotal roles in our history. They also discussed the famed Tuskegee Airmen, Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU), and the Civil Rights era.

“We were most amazed at the questions the students asked,” said Worshipful Master Hemphill. Hemphill said it was easy to encourage the students to be aggressive learners, whom always should seek knowledge for what you don’t understand. This was truly an inspirational day for the brothers and students!
